Financial Cents runs your whole practice. Clerai runs your close.
Financial Cents is a genuinely comprehensive practice-management platform: workflow templates, a client CRM, a branded client portal, time tracking and invoicing, and a proposal builder, all in one system. For a firm consolidating several disconnected tools as it adds staff, that breadth is real value. Clerai isn't trying to be that. It's built for one recurring job, categorizing transactions, chasing clients for missing documents, and running the month-end close, priced by client count instead of team headcount, for firms that don't need (or want to pay for) a full practice-management suite.
The pricing model, side by side

| Mid tier | Team: $49/user/mo | Starter: $89/mo (up to 15 clients) |
| Upper tier | Scale: $69/user/mo | Growth: $179/mo (up to 40 clients) |
| Top tier | Enterprise: Custom | Scale: $349/mo (unlimited clients, sold hands-on) |

Two different ways to scale
Financial Cents charges per user, which fits its job: it's built to run workflow, CRM, and billing across a whole team, so cost scales with headcount. A true one-person shop on its Solo tier ($19/user/mo) can be cheaper on paper than Clerai's Solo plan ($39/mo). But add a second staff member and the per-user cost multiplies, and Financial Cents' own marketing frames the product around firms that are "not an entry-level tier," i.e. growing teams, not the smallest solo shops.
Clerai scales the other way: price is set by client count, not team size. A solo owner-operator and a two-person firm serving the same 15 clients pay the same $89/mo. Adding a part-time bookkeeper doesn't change the bill.

Features as publicly listed on financial-cents.com and Capterra (accessed July 2026). Financial Cents' client portal covers document uploads and e-signature through a branded, logged-in portal; Clerai's chasing flow uses a signed, expiring magic link with no account or password required on the client's side.
Who each tool is built for
Financial Cents targets small-to-growing accounting, bookkeeping, tax, payroll, and CAS practices consolidating multiple disconnected tools into one system. Its own positioning is explicit that it's for firms that aren't "an entry-level tier," i.e. teams past the very earliest stage. Clerai is built specifically for the solo-to-10-person owner-operator running 5–40 QuickBooks Online clients, who wants one recurring bottleneck, the monthly close loop, solved without adopting (and paying per seat for) a full practice-management platform.
