Convert a PDF bank statement to a QuickBooks CSV
Drop a PDF statement and get a clean Date, Description, Amount CSV you can import into QuickBooks. It reads the PDF right here in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. Other converters upload your client's bank data to their servers. This one does not.
100% in your browser. Your statement never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded to Clerai.
Converting a PDF by hand every month is the slow part. Clerai connects to QuickBooks directly, pulls transactions automatically, categorizes each one with per-client rules, reads scanned receipts with OCR, and chases clients for anything missing. The manual export step goes away.
Common questions
No. The PDF is read and parsed entirely inside your browser using local JavaScript. Nothing is sent to Clerai or any server, so your client's bank data never leaves your machine. This is the main difference from most PDF-to-CSV converters, which upload your file to their servers.
A text-based PDF, meaning one where you can select and copy the text. Statements downloaded directly from online banking are almost always text-based. Scanned paper statements or phone photos are images, and pulling numbers out of an image needs OCR, which cannot run free in your browser. The tool tells you when a file looks scanned.
It uses one general parser that reads dates, descriptions, and amounts by their position on the page, rather than a template per bank, so it handles most US, UK, and Canadian layouts. Any dated line whose amount it cannot read confidently is listed under 'lines need a look' with a reason. Always spot-check the output against the statement.
Yes. Always spot-check the CSV against the statement before importing. Bank layouts vary and edge cases happen, so treat the output as a fast first pass, not a guarantee.
A three-column Date, Description, Amount CSV, the format QuickBooks Online accepts for a manual bank import. Money out is negative, money in is positive.
No. This tool only extracts transactions into a clean CSV. Categorizing every line to the right account, remembering your choices as rules, and pushing to QuickBooks is what Clerai automates inside the app.
